This is because Pearl Sushi is in perpetual party mode, a restaurant and bar that caters to those about to party, recovering from a party or looking for a party.
Nightlife and restaurant entrepreneurs Jimmy and Tammy Carlin run the intimate Old Town hangout, training staff to be not so much servers and bartenders as cruise entertainment directors. More than one remarked that Pearl Sushi is “just really all about having fun.” (Cue giant smile.)
To this end, the place runs perpetual happy hours that vary by day and time. It specializes in an approach to cocktail development that’s just shy of absurdist. It serves foods with names that are puns and cocktails with such names as Jell-O Fish, Pulp Fiction and Porn Star.
…On the other end of the caloric spectrum is Tammy Carlin’s 100-calorie TY KU martini, made with the trendy TY KU Citrus Liqueur and strawberry guava-flavored Fuze.
